Though their service has improved since they incorporated more staff from the actual University, me and my children have been treated very poorly here. I became pregnant at age 19 and every trip in during my pregnancy I was treated like an unintelligent, immature child. At one point I asked if I was supposed to be mopping at work at 8mo pregnant and the doctor told me that I shouldn't be using that as an "excuse to get out of work." It was a question. Then after my son was born, we were told he might have leukemia and were sent to Primary's when they were actually sending us there because they thought there was child abuse. They scared us with the thought of our 1 month old having cancer to get us to go to the hospital. We spent three days in the hospital and countless months under pointless DCS investigation. Then a couple years later, they told me he wasn't gaining enough weight (which he was and still is a chubby little boy), and to feed him fattening foods (i.e. "foods you want to eat, but shouldn't") and he was "prescribed" Pediasure. He hadn't grown length-wise, so it made sense to me that he wasn't gaining weight, but they just couldn't seem to fathom that. I don't want an overweight 2 year old. He was already chubby. At our next appointment we were sent to Primary Children's AGAIN, because he had barely gained weight (yet, he was still the same height). When we arrived, all the nurses were confused as to why he was there, they told me they expected a skinny, malnourished child. After ANOTHER FOUR POINTLESS DAYS THERE, the endocrinologist confirmed why I thought he wasn't gaining weight and what I had been trying to explain to the doctors: 1. Both me and my husband are short people - 4'11" and 5'5" - meaning tallness is not in his cards. 2. He has Down syndrome, which also causes growing challenges. 3. He will probably have a growth spurt when he reaches 3-4 years of age (which he is three now and, yes, what a surprise, he has gone through a growth spurt). There are a few staff members who are wonderful, excellent doctors, but many others there treat the families terribly. Especially the front desk people. I always get such hostility from them.
The University of Utah will break their promises to you regarding interpretation also, written promises broken. And Salt Lake County could care less.
I have had such a great experience while bringing my 1 year old Son here after changing from another Clinic who had no idea what they were doing and had bad experiences whilst I was pregnant and took him there for his first 2 week check up. So I moved somewhere closer to home and found this place. He has always had the best care given from his immunizations to checkups from his residental doctor and I couldn't ask for better. No one has ever been rude from the front staff to the Nurses and Doctors and we don't mind the wait as there are quite a few drop in appts. Thank you for your services as I could not imagine myself working daily in a Health Facility.
I like it a lot because I have treated my children well are very friendly will cater very fast Not like other clinics that cater costs them give them many stars
They treat there employees so poorly. They have so many patience and not enough staff. Every time I go there is always a 45 minutes wait. I've heard the main manager always plays favorites it's so sad. No wonder I never see the same nurses.
At the South Main Clinic for the University of Utah you will get low level treatment if you ask for interpretation for your healthcare. If you speak Spanish, you get top treatment. If you don't speak Spanish, you will get bottom level treatment.
Racist & retaliatory treatment. Also the U of U Office of Equal Opportunity is completely worthless. Utterly worthless all of them.
