Paid for parking, only went to request a new social security card. Sat there for two hours, and my number was never called. Extremely disappointed.
I've been to this office several times and they've always been great. I have had to wait, but it's never been horribly long considering how many people use their services. I'd rather wait a little longer than pay higher taxes to hire more people just to reduce wait times. Also, I am related to someone who wrote a negative review on here about the guards, but I was told the whole story, and it sounded like the guards were just doing their jobs. My relative had a pocket knife and was asked to take it out to his car. That does not seem unreasonable to me.
Tried to call on the phone to avoid the lines, and no one answered. Went in to wait in line for more than an hour and they said I had insufficient info to get what I needed there. I tried to find out what I needed before I waited in line but they refused to tell me anything. The staff is rude. The wait is long. The building is run down. If they were an actual business they would be out of business.
My husband and I have been there 4 separate times and made at least 6 different phone calls trying to apply for a social for our adopted son and then a name change for an adopted daughter. Finally spoke to someone today in the Ogden office who actually knew what he was talking about and was told that Salt lake hadn't been asking us for all the proper paperwork and no wonder it's been over 6 months with no card. Completely incompetent works at slc. Avoid at all costs.
