Last semester (spring 2014), I rented only book there and the day I went to return it, the guy who happened to receive the book assured that I didn't need need the receipt. Well, at the beginning of this semester, I received a notification that I still owed the book. I ignored it because I thought it was simply a mistake. Well today I received a letter warning me that if I didn't return the book they would take punitive action... I was shocked. I called them and they, of course, they said that the book doesn't appear on their records, whatever. And obviously, I didn't have the blessed receipt. What else could I do? Of course, I'm under the threat of punitive action, which I can't afford and I had to pay the book plus the fine, what else could they have done?
Absolutely absurd pricing. If you have any opportunity to shop elsewhere, do so. The price of a USED RENTAL is more than the price of a new book you own from Amazon. Unless you need right this very minute, save your wallet and don't shop at the U bookstore.
They got a new front entrance recently which looks awesome, too.
I bought illustration board there yesterday and had them cut it to 11x11 inch squares. I got home and they are just barely 1/8 an inch off on all sides. That is a ton for an art student, and it is cut in a way that if I trim it to be 90 degrees on all four sides, it will be smaller than 11 inches. I can't use this. I called them for a refund and they informed me that all sales are final, and if I want a chance for a refund, they have to take a look at it first. This means 1.5 hours of wasted time plus $5 ish dollars of gas money to get there plus a whole day wasted in my attempt to do my project. And they won't just give me my money back? Useless.
I love the campus store! It's nice to sit near the Starbucks cafe and work. They have really everything you need here, even tech stuff like Ethernet cables, or art supplies.. Even repair tools! Everyone is super helpful and it's always clean. I wish there was more seating around the cafe, but other than that, it's great!
It was nice store for students and families. I took my guest from Japan, he wanted to come to U because of the store. lol Neat and great customer services.
So, of course I will never ever set a foot there during the rest of my career. I'll pay more elsewhere rather then going there who stole my money, because that's what they did. And of course they do it with students who are struggling to pay for their education. If you happen to go there and rent a book, DEMAND the people who work there to give you the blessed receipt that they received the book, it seems they do it on purpose to take your money...
Hope you enjoy my money U bookstore!
