Went for brunch. Go to place for 20 yrs. Wasn't a good experience, empty bins no lox, no homemade whipped cream. Hard to get a coffee warmer, and it wasn't that busy
I understand it can be hard for restaurants to deal with large groups, especially like ours where we often do not know how many will be showing up and where we often have 20 to 30 people with us, but there are other restaurants that are very happy to have you and treat us well. Fiddler's Elbow made it difficult to do business and I really disliked the way I was treated, there is no excuse for it.
The food and beer selection is pretty good here. But, the service can be kind of slow here when it's packed.
We used to frequently go to Fiddler's Elbow after many of our hikes, as well as for events such as dinner nights and we had a great experience with Fiddler's Elbow for years, but after they hired a new manager named Jake and another new employee named Brandon we started having problems. Jake was repeatedly giving me a very hard time about bringing in large groups, sometimes he would confront me and say we need a reservation for a group our size (though when I'd try calling to make a reservation I'd be told that they don't take reservations), sometimes he would call me over and be upset that we ended up having less people show up than we originally said we expected when we showed up (even though the restaurant was nearly empty and it wasn't creating a negitive impact). The final incident occurred when we came in and one of the individuals with us had a North Carolina drivers license that they "couldn't" scan, they were very rude about it and wouldn't let her in. The next morning as was at Fiddler's Elbow for brunch with a couple friends and as we were leaving Brandon blocked my path an threatened to start giving every ID in our group far more scrutiny.
Good place to watch sports and drink beer. Foods is really good. The veggie sandwich was awesome.
I tried to reach out and talk to the owner many many times but I was not able to, I wanted to try to resolve the issue as there are limited locations that can sit a large group quickly.
I posted a similar review on my Facebook page and Fiddler's Elbow responded by posting a comment recommending Lucky 13! Lucky 13 is a great place where I have always had great food and service.
I have gone here a few times for lunch during work and their Salads are so good! I have had the Steak, and the Mediterranean salads. Their Chili Verde is pretty great too! People I have gone with have enjoyed the Burgers and they have a large Beer choice, which I need to come try one night after work! The service has been super great, to so-so ... I think it depends on the server, but the kitchen does a great job!
