Totally HORRIBLE company, never again would I rent from this company. The location in West Valley City, I rented from never answers their phone, they gave us the wrong rental, basically said "its what we have, take it or leave it". I called Budget customer service 8 times, no one would assist the problem. Budget does NOT guarantee or support their franchise location. I would never again use this company nor would I refer them.
At least one source on line lists they open at 7am. This is not so. Things started happening at 7:30. Bottom line was I got out of their at 8:30 with my truck and tow dolly. There were many, unhappy customers behind me. Several returning customers indicated understaffing was a problem when they checked before. Truck and equipment was as reserved; no complaints there.
Rented a truck weeks in advanced and just like everybody else in these comments, inventory was not available. I went to Penske down the street and they were able to set me up within 10 minutes.
Yikes, should have read these reviews. I'm reading now saying yes, Yes, YES ! Reserved a 12' truck truck in San Marcos, CA (San Diego), received confirmation, but ... no 12' truck. Had a "great deal" of a 16' truk for me, but I didn't need that and it cost more in gas, and they lied about insurance. Bottom line spent $190 more than necessary. There were a number of issues with the Truck that made it obvious it had not been serviced in awhile, that story is on the San Marcos review. Because of this, I wanted to get it straightened out in SLC and waited for 1 hr for the manager to return because "she could help me" . She returned, took care of earlier customers (OK with that) and then ignored me until I asked to be helped. As I am explaining the whole thing, she is typing away on the computer, when I get done she says she can't help me, the rental is closed ... WHAT ? The earlier rep had left the rental open because she was the only one who could help me. Now it's closed, she says she can't help and to call customer service. Customer service say they can only help if the rental details are contested while the rental is open. How convenient, almost like some Manager knew that. I will NEVER rent from Budget again. Their "low cost" isn't so low, and the service, at both sites, was not just bad, but dishonest. RENT SOMEWHERE ELSE !!!
You probably rent a truck because you are moving. This means you are counting on being able to move your stuff from one place to another. You might be selling your home and have to be out or your lease is up. You probably have rallied people to take time out of their day to help, so why oh why would you want to show up to pick up your truck and have them tell you there are no trucks anywhere in the Salt Lake Valley. At Budget, a reservation and confirmation email is meaningless. How is this any way to run a business? Are they really too incompetent to manage their inventory? Yes. Rent a truck from Home Depot instead.
