I just went there for the color fest but had a blast. Great Vegetarian food & staff.
We went there this year when they had their Festival of Colors. It was really a lovely event, messy, but then that was part of the point. People were so friendly towards each other and everyone was really enjoying the event. The whole aura of the event was filled with kindness and happiness, it was one of those rare moments in which you feel there is still hope for humanity.
Year around colors for sale! It's not expensive either and I got prayer beads for $3. It's a small area but I like what they sell, usually reasonably priced unless there's a fest going on then prices sky rocket!
Ecstatic dance here every Sunday with free Yoga and a paid vegan brunch!
People were happy to share their colored powders by tossing some at every passerby and getting rewarded by that person returning the gesture, along with kind words or a smile. The children got fully covered in colors faster than all the adults and all the people treated them with sweetness as they ran around underfoot patting and throwing color onto everyone around them.
They also had some food vendors from which you could purchase authentic and delicious delights. As well as some vendors selling Indian handbags and jewelry, alongside another vendor offering to do mehndi henna tattoos.
The Temple was beautiful on the outside and the animals were nice. They didn't bite or kick.
We took a tour of the llama tour with Vai. We had a chance to feed the birds, the fish, the parrots, the llamas and the cows. We took apples but the animals preferred carrots!
It isn't fancy but Vai was relaxed and the animals were patient with children. You can tell these people love their animals.
There is a little playground for the children and the children had a chance to walk the llamas around. We were really lucky and had a chance to see a brand new baby llama - just 1 day old!
I would definitely go again, though perhaps next time, I will also take a mask or bandanna for my face, and maybe a shirt that goes higher up the neck and a hat. If you have light blond hair, the colored powder getting into your hair might end up staining the hair with color and refuse to be washed out even after several washes.
