This is what you need to know: BE VERY CAREFUL!
The Drinks: if you must have a drink here order beer, mixed drinks are a kin to a cocktail at an all inclusive resort in Tijuana. Meh.
The food: Uninspiring. There was more thought put into the ID situation than the ingredients in the food.
Overall a great experience, and we will be back.
White horse has good food, a good atmosphere, and decent cocktails. I like the food a bit better than Whiskey Street, and highly recommend the Croque Madame.
Note, beer on tap maxes out at 4% alcohol by volume in all Utah restaurants (at least thats what the server told us), if you are looking for a beer with that kick you love, get it in a can or bottle.
Overall nope I would not recommend The White Horse. Specially for ladies, the men at the door and the unauthorized capturing of ones ID on a mobile device is enough of a reason not come in. What type of restaurant requires this; well since I couldn't get an answer I have to assume it's not a very safe place. Awful.
The guy at the door will ask for ID and then take a picture of the ID without consent or warning. Something is terribly wrong about this . When I asked he responded "we want to keep tabs on who is in here....so we can handle it..." Wow. As a security measure just don't come in , what type of restaurant requires you to file an identification just to have a meal? Asking the doorman any further questions have me the feeling that my teeth would end up on the floor.
The Service: lacking and scary.
I want to live here, its that neat of a spot. The decor was impressive, funky and retro but still classy. The menu was an eclectic mix of things that the Chef clearly put a lot of thought into. Stuffed olives appetizer was a weird but interestingly awesome appetizer, sweet and salty, soft and crunchy, all mashed into one. We tried the Shishito peppers with cheese sauce, which was another interesting, yet tasty, appetizer. The salmon dish was absolutely incredible, fresh and piping hot with an amazing garnish and potato mash.
Quite the selection of drinks. Good vibes all around, we came earlier than most people so the service was quick. I'm sure if were there at a busier time, it'd be a much different story. Overall, I like this place.
The Brussels sprouts are amazing! The egg and chips are phenomenal! This place doesnt have a bad dish. The staff was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is pleasing. I loved it all but one thing. I wish that they would have a running list for tables. They tell you to seat yourself..if its packed...you end up feeling like a vulture ready to pounce on anyone that stands up from a table. It sucks when u find that they are only going to the restroom. Whisky Street does the same thing. I dont like it. Its my only complaint.
