Very nice! But we were too early. There were no staff yet early June / end May. But we did get to walk the grounds and enjoy the area. it was very interesting to read all about old days and see how they lived back then. If you have time, I'd recommend stopping by.
Well, it's a nice place, if you can get work around the sense that their take on history has been whitewashed a fair amount. I suppose it just felt too idyllic to be authentic. It's kind of like Disneyland for Mormons. I wish they'd made it more inclusive and less glowing. There were certainly other people here at the time, non-Mormons even, and Native Americans. Their stories were nowhere to be found at This Is The Place. I suppose it's meant to be The Place where Mormons can feel good about their past, but for this non-Mormon it was a bit much to stomach.
It was nice and bigger than I expected from the outside. There is a "train" that you can ride for free to get around the place. A bit confusing what demos and rides were open. Also a bit confusing; what activities were included with the wrist band vs. what you would have to pay separately for. A few grumpy employees and a few nice ones. Overall I liked it and would recommend it. Pieces army luster on the website. It was $13/ adult and $9 four kids 3 and up. About $11 or 12 for seniors. Like an interactive pioneer museum.
Want to learn about the Early settlers of the Salt Lake Valley, and about life in the 19th century in general? There is no better place in the entire state to get such a comprehensive, hands on experience than at this park. Worth every penny for admittance. They have essentially rebuilt a 19th century town in its entirety. Each building has a knowledgeable actor who explains what they do and how they do it.

I had my wedding here yesterday at the Atkin House. From day one I know it was the venue for me, small, rustic, and intimate. When we got there yesterday, Abby and Libby were SO incredibly helpful wanting to help caring things in, etc. Without them, we would not have been so organized or clean at the end of the night. They were darling and wonderful, as was the whole staff at This is the Place. I look forward to going back and doing business with them again.
