The vets and techs at Sugar House Veterinary Hospital are the best in my experience! I have a little jack russell mix whose sole purpose in life is to eat all of the things and I can't even tell you how many times I've had to take him in to get checked out. Even when I've shown up without an appointment, I was never waiting for too long and the staff was always friendly. Ramen loves his doctors and I love knowing he's well taken care of when in their hands.
I have been taking my pets here since moving to the area in 2012. They have exceptional doctors and staff. Besides exceptional clinical skills they are so empathetic and kind. I have several seniors and a couple of hospice kids so we see each other quite often. An added benefit is the deep & varied knowledge base. The doctors consult with each other to find the best course of treatment. I've been going to Vet clinics my entire life and Sugar House is by far one the best!!!
This place is ok. The front staff & techs are very professional, friendly, and helpful most of the time. I wouldn't personally recommend Dr. Edgar. I've had several instances where she has been really difficult to communicate with and get a hold of us, and frankly she's not very friendly. I've been dealing with 2 very sick cats that have had a hard-to-find parasite. She's just been pretty blasé about it, and they've been super sick for months. She takes a long time to get back to me with test results, doesn't always return my calls, today forgot to fill a prescription for me and left me waiting for 20 minutes, and honestly just really hasn't seemed to care about the fact that they're really sick. I've had to ask 2 or sometimes 3 times for her to figure out why they're still sick and she kind of just acts baffled or surprised, like it's obvious if I hadn't been so forceful about it nothing would have been done. Honestly, if she had ever taken a few moments to be reassuring, show in any way she cared, or apologized when she was flaky/uncommunicative I'd be fine. But it's just gotten to the point where she's made it pretty clear she just doesn't care that much. Frankly, with how much money veterinary care costs these days and the amount of time I spend at the vet with 3 animals, I'd rather spend my time and money somewhere that both cares for my animals and respects my time.
This place came highly recommended by a family member who has had good experiences. I've gone with her before, and haven't had many complaints. However, when I called to make an appointment for my cat who was on the brink of death, they refused to even see him unless he had the rabies vaccine first as he is not up to date. I understand the need to prevent rabies, but I find it infuriating that they wouldn't even diagnose my cat before administering the vaccine to verify that he is healthy enough to safely get it or if it's even necessary anyway as he is old and may not survive his illness. Needless to say, we will be going elsewhere for care.
We took our dog in to get his nails trimmed. And the whole team took great care of our boy. When they looked at his shot records and noticed it was time to get new ones, there were no problems in adjusting the time around to have the bet deliver the shots and get our boy ready to go. Great vet and team here. Would highly recommend to anyone in need of a new vet.
