Appearance of the bike shop is first rate.
I have now had 4-5 negative experiences with this shop, enough that I felt I should leave a review. Had these guys do a brake bleed for me once and it took them 3 times to get it right. I'm pretty sure they contaminated my rotors as well because the made a horrendous amount of noise for months afterwards. Something that never happened before I took it to your shop. (2016 Trek Slash, with XT brakes)
Just a good vibe, from my initial phone conversation with Mike through the process of having my bike assembled from being shipped cross country.
I will be back.
Most recently my friend brought her Trek Slash into your shop to bleed her Sram XO brakes (the best brakes you could spec in 2012) and you guys told her they were completely shot (a total lie) and needed to be replaced with Shimano XTR ($368+rotors+install). There are at least 2 other models of Shimano brakes (XT, Deore) you could have referenced that are less than that. Then completely uninvited, you took apart her Sram dropper post and said it was full of brake fluid, FYI a dropper post that came from the Sram factory probably has the right fluid it in. You priced rebuilding it for her for $180. Grand total somewhere upwards of $500.
Very helpful and knowledgeable-- at least at the Millcreek shop where I always go ( and have gone for years when it was Millcreek Cycles).
On another occasion my girlfriend brought in her brand new road bike needing a minor shifting adjustment. You guys told her that her entire derailer needed to be replaced to fix it and bid it out for +$150 (all 105 Shimano, pretty bomb proof stuff) I took it to Flynn Cyclery and he replaced the shifting cable ($15 total plus install) and it's worked perfectly ever since.
These guys did a repair for me and I had to chase them around and call them three times, with no updates coming from them and the third time finding out that the bike had already been done for days and no one bothered to call.
We were waiting to eat next door and wandered in here to look around. My 2 year old was in love and an employee got a small bike down for him to ride on. She told me all about the bike and was very knowledgeable. WE're going back to get something for him for his birthday. Service was great and an amazing first impression. We looked like we were obviously just killing time, but they treated us like anybody else.
You're better served going to a bike shop that actually acts like they want your business.
Very pleased with the service and staff.
While a couple of these guys are pretty friendly, that little slick-haired Mr. Napoleon needs a serious lesson in not treating customers like trash. The world isn't out to get you, buddy.
All in all, I'd say people are lucky if they have friends who know bikes well enough to tell them not to let you work on them. All I've seen you do is up-sell girls on things they don't need. You guys take advance of people's lack of understanding, trash talk on Sram and try and sell things people don't need. It's not cool.
