I avoid shopping. Some people love it, but not me.
I just took some things back, the only questions were are they used and do they work. Love REI's return policy! The return policy is why I keep coming back, I don't return much but when you're buying quality expensive gear if it isn't just right it gives me piece of mind that I can return it!
Proud false-need items and gaudy lux goods.
Most of this stuff is chinesium. And sold by companies swinging political bats at the general public.
The cashier was nice and it is not her fault but REI has a very lame policy of not allowing a card to be swiped if the chip isnt working. Very annoyinng that I spent a half hour shopping only to find out that I couldnt complete my purchase because my chip apparently stopped working yesterday. Everywhere else allows a card to be swiped if the chip doesnt work. Lame lame lame. More and more REI represents nothing but commercialized glamping, and impersonal policies to boot. IME in the same parking lot has way better service and similarly priced gear!
A culture of marketing city folk into arming themselves with tech-cloth-metal arrays and gizmos seems like a foolish dream on a biblical scale.
If you're looking for guns, ammunition, cammo and 4-wheeler gear, this might not be quite the store for you. If you're like me, however, and spend most of your time outdoors appreciating nature without feeling a need to shoot at it, REI is a great store that's owned by a great company.
Best REI in the state. Hugh quality gear and the most knowledgeable outdoor staff anywhere. Great return policy.
Niche foolishness.
Fail.
I like to enjoy nature and go out into the wild and get swallowed up in its glory. The more gear naked I am the better the experience. A few nice and sturdy things.
Walking into REI, however, is always fun. I love the outdoors, and if you must go shopping, this is the place for a person like me to feel at home. It's a good-sized store full of all kinds of useful outdoor gear. The downside is that I always leave having purchased more things than I went there to get.
A monument to the hyper granulated product designs which are expensive and superfluous.
Not for me.
