Great food, great service in a fun, quirky, retro setting.
The original was packed, so we went just down the street and were immediately given a table for the 5 of us. The waiter was awesome and knowledgeable about the menu. All of us received our food within 15 minutes, and we were in no hurry because their chips and salsa were amazing! The food was even better. Great food, great service, great atmosphere. Worthy of the hype.
Each of the several varieties of mole we ordered was delicious and unique. Ditto for the margarita selection ... The chips and salsa were never-ending, and although the guacamole was not - you have to order it as an appetizer - it was fantastic! We fought over the last bit of it.
Such a great place. The service is extremely friendly and helpful. And the food is great, really recommend any of the mole dishes. Although you can't really go wrong with anything on the menu. They also have awesome dessert and their tres leches is amazing. The only bad thing about this place is that it is always packed so I'd recommend a reservation.
Should I ever return to Salt Lake City, Red Iguana will be on my itinerary.
...And let's not forget the fried ice cream - so, so good!
Come on! Red Iguana...... always great! Love it! Always busy and it's for good reason. A quick tip: order at least 20 minutes ahead and pick it up to go or plan on a good 30+ minute wait times for a table.
My husband and I are obsessed with Red Iguana. It is no wonder this place made it on Diners, Drive ins, and Dives. The authentic cuisine and atmopshere are like no other in Utah. Whenever we come back home from vacation we try to land early enough so we can go enjoy lunch or dinner here. We have never had a bad meal, the mango and cucumber margaritas are out of this world!
