There's a coupon they frequently offer to buy $10 and get $10 off however our shelves were labeled to trick you into thinking the items were $10 when they were /under/ $10. Which led a lot of people to yell at me...
TLDR; DON'T GO HERE.
We were also told to keep coupons away from customers unless they asked and sign people up for as many credit cards as possible because the rate is double that of a normal credit card and it was probably the only way we actually made money.

There were also constant mistakes with either the schedule, ringing up customers, signs, prices, anything.
I worked here over the summer last year as my first job. Hear me out here, because if the way they treat their employees is any clue to how they treat customers you'll want new management here too.
When I first started I was expected to be able to have the sorting system memorized, keep the fitting room and floor of a fourth of the store clean while being called to help with the register every 2 minutes within a few days of working there. Meanwhile if you didn't get that done you'd get in some pretty bad trouble.
The cashier then proceeded to tell me I couldn't pay for the items because it was my husbands card and I couldn't sign for him because maybe I stole it. Say what?! I hit enter after signing and said it already went through sorry. And then told her "You WITNESSED him giving it to me. And our screaming child. I am NOT stealing anything and do not appreciate you insenuating I did in front of all of the people in line behind me." She tried arguing with me but I just left at that point. If she has an issue with me using the card he gave me to use she should've said something before ringing me up. Not waited until the transaction was already completed. Absolutely not the customer service I needed at that time. Customer service gets half a star. The other 1.5 was because the store was clean.
That being said, there was never actually 2 people in a department because no one showed up and no one bothered to help or they were too busy to actually help.
My husband and I are in town for a funeral and needed dress shoes. We stopped in at this JCPenneys to grab what we needed after attending an emotional viewing of our loved one. Our 2 year old daughter went into epic melt down mode. Screaming, kicking, sobbing... she was exhausted from a plane flight from Seattle and being around a lot of sad adults. IN FRONT OF THE CASHIER my husband handed me his card, said "use this one I will take her out to the car."
Levi completely saved me today in the suite department which he wasn't even assigned to work. employees like him are harder and harder to find thank you so much levi!
Basically 2 employees are tasked to keep one area clean. Besides the men's area which had 3 to 4 but still needed everyone's help at the end of the day.
The final straw was when a schedule mistake happened were I was working 10 days in a row. I told my manager I'd just work the shifts but when I had a question about a day in my schedule and had called the store I waited the usual 30 minutes-an hour to speak to her all I got out was "Hey I just had a question about my schedule-" before she YELLED AT ME and hung up. I never got any days I requested off no matter how long in advance I'd request them, any questions I had they'd send me on a wild goose chase to other managers and once all of the managers acted passive aggressive towards me before the only nice one told me they had accused me of stealing 5$ missing from a till that had been "left open by me" and refused to check the cameras.
